Michael Conroy’s extensive litigation background, coupled with his years as in-house counsel to a large petroleum and energy company, uniquely qualify him to provide business advice, litigation strategy and counseling to corporate clients and underwriters emphasizing commercial practicalities. Besides providing a comprehensive understanding of the specific challenges that corporate clients face, Michael’s intuition and insight enable him to approach each case with a perspective that results in appropriate and effective solutions. 

Marine Insurance 
Coverage opinions; general defense of vessel owners, marine excursions, tour operators and marinas in personal injury and casualty matters; defense of hull and machinery claims of all types.

Admiralty and Maritime Litigation 
Statewide representation in state and federal courts of insurers and owners in many subject areas including passenger and crew personal injury litigation; commercial litigation of vessel management agreements and broker listing agreements; vessel arrest, financing, and mortgage enforcement; products liability, and warranty litigation; defense of 905(b) actions; defense of personal watercraft rentals and liveries in personal injury and wrongful death litigation.

Recreational Marine 
Investigation and defense of owners in vessel casualties, fires, collisions with other vessels, and damages to marinas and marine structures, terminals, and other facilities. 

Commercial Transactions 
Representation of owners, charterers, and operators in charter and contractual disputes and  marine transportation agreements (private and public carriage, contracts of affreightment); representation of tug and towboat operators; freight collections; maritime lien enforcement and defense; Rule B,C, and D actions; representation of petroleum owners in  transportation and bulk storage matters.

Environmental 
Representation of marine petroleum transporters and petroleum storage facilities on operational matters and petroleum spills; counseling and representation in vessel groundings, collision, salvage, and cleanup; representation of vessel owners, terminal, and facility owners and underwriters in regulatory matters pertaining to petroleum discharges, casualties, as well as environmental litigation and toxic torts.
